The Mediterranean
August 6 - 18, 2002

When Dan and I got married, money wasn't exactly flowing freely.  So we decided that we wanted to have a small wedding so we could have a big honeymoon.  We decided we wanted to do a cruise (my idea) and that we would go to Europe/the Mediterranean (Dan's idea).

So we started a big project trying to figure out what cruise we wanted to go on.  Princess Cruise lines turned out to be the winner (mostly because we could get the Loveboat Fare since I had been on a Princess Cruise before (in Alaska), so their price was the same as a similar cruise on Royal Caribbean).

Our ship was the Golden Princess (seen above).  I think it was only a year old, so the ship was very nice and we were able to get upgraded to a decently nice room (it is the same as the one below, but the two single beds were put together to make a double bed).  We had a balcony, which was very neat.  We started out most of our days with a breakfast tray out on the balcony.

We hit the following ports:

Venice, Italy
Athens, Greece
Valletta, Malta
Naples, Italy
Rome, Italy
Pisa, Italy
Monte Carlo, Monaco
Barcelona, Spain

We even had a couple of days at sea to have fun on the boat!

The cruise was 12 days long, including a few days at sea.  It was a great experience and a lot of fun.  All in all, a wonderful honeymoon trip and I can't wait to do another cruise!
