This was our final port. The ship was in port overnight so we had a day to wander around (or in our case, to get lost in) Barcelona before we had to disembark the ship and go home. And boy, did we get lost. The destination we had in mind was Gaudi's Gothic Cathedral. We did eventually make it there. After three tries and a couple hours. However, we did get the chance to be very well acquainted with Barcelona's main pedestrian mall! It was so humid and we had walked so far that (combined with the fact that we had been running around southern Europe for the past 12 days), once we got to Gaudi's cathedral, we were ready to have a nice sit-down, snap a few pictures and then get back to the air conditioning on the boat. And that is just what we did. Not exactly the best way to learn about Barcelona, but after all the wonderful things we had seen in Athens, Rome and our other stops, Barcelona just couldn't compare.
Once the cruise was over, Dan and I went to the train station in Barcelona to took a sleeper train to Paris, France. There we took a cab to the airport where we hung out for a few hours until we could catch our plane to JFK and back to DFW.
