Athens, Greece
In Athens, Dan and I got to see all sorts of sites. The first stop was at the Stadium of Athens. It was built for the first modern Olympics and it was planned to be used in the opening or closing ceremonies of the 2004 Olympics. After the Stadium, we went to the Acropolis. The entire time at the Acropolis, I was in awe. It was amazing and I was unable to describe it even in my journal - I simply wrote "It was very cool, but I can't explain it in words. You'll just have to see the pictures." The view from the Acropolis in Athens, Greece We then stopped by the Plaka where we wandered around and shopped (Dan got ouzo - we couldn't find any Greek beer). After that, we took a bus ride to the Temple of Poseidon. It took an hour to get there, but once we arrived, we had a lunch buffet laid out for us. According to my journal entry on that day "the food was a lot of Greek food - almost all very good (if a bit less than solid) and as equally unidentifiable." But not being able to recognize our food did not stop us from filling up! After stuffing ourselves, it was off to the actual Temple of Poseidon, which was phenomenal.

Much of my toenail on my big toe was torn off (and some actually shoved into my toe) when I lost my balance on the ship and my toe met up with a doorstop that had its protective rubber covering removed. Ouch. For the rest of the cruise, I had to wear my open-toed sandals because of the bandages on my toe.
