Little Bit
Born: September 2004
Bitty is kitty number six. She was one of Gidget's babies. When she was born, she was about the same weight as the other kittens, but she quickly lost ground becoming the runt of the litter. When she was fixed at 6 months old, she was only 4.6lbs! She pudged up to about 6.5lbs and the vet said that we should not expect her to get much larger. At 10 months old, Bitty weighed in at a whopping 6.6 lbs! Of course, most of that weight has been gained in her now pudgy little tummy. It is quiet a bit lower to the ground than it used to be! Dan and I decided to keep Bitty because both of us bonded with her so strongly. I had to hand feed her to supplement her nursing (since she was not gaining weight). Because of this, she quickly started to see me as a second mother, following me around and begging for food and attention. I would bring her out to the couch to feed her, so Dan would get to see her more than he saw any of the other kitties. Now she has become more independent, but she is still our little baby. As she's gotten older, she's become more lovey. She loves rubbing against her people, but I think she's still working on her technique. Currently, it consists of looking at the hand (or foot, nose, etc) offered for loving, putting her head down a little and ramming against it. Not very graceful, but very sweet. And of course, as such a tiny kitty she is absolutely adorable. And even though she is tiny, she's utterly fearless. She trails Nibby (the second lightest cat) by a good 3lbs, but she likes to play with the big boys (uh, girls). She's not even afraid of Happy - she doesn't know that Happy could eat her in three bites. She'll attack and chase after Happy with no fear! What a silly (but adorable) little girl.
