When I Was Younger...
I have a somewhat obsessive personality. If I like something, I tend to dive in and everything is about that one interest... at least until I get bored and move on to another one. Because of that, I tend to collect things. I don't remember a time that I haven't been collecting something, even unintentionally. When I was younger, it was stickers and novelty erasers (and hotel toiletries oddly enough). I've also collected cows, crochet patterns, crochet hooks, Japanese language learning books, Japanese TV dramas, scrapbooking goodies... it can be argued that I currently collect tea....
Anyway, I've been trying to temper this trait lately and be a little more sane when it comes to my hobbies. I don't let myself get too much tea, I haven't scrapbooked in a while but I haven't given it up (lack of creativity is the main reason I haven't right now), I'm trying to slowly brush up and relearn Japanese (vs. trying to do it all RIGHT NOW), I even have a little crocheting going on (but that is suffering from the same lack of creativity scrapbooking is).
However, if I still collected erasers, this tempered obsessiveness would never survive. I was looking for Japanese office supplies (I love their organizational stuff) on eBay and stumbled upon this:
(BTW, I know nothing about this seller so if you decide you need multicolored hamster erasers, it's at your own risk, blah blah blah).
Anyway, apparently there are a TON of fun Japanese novelty erasers on eBay. Thankfully, I no longer collect novelty erasers because if I did, this would be too much to resist. Sadly, I have searched for a cute monkey eraser and they don't have one. Because if they did, I would totally have to get it.
I have no idea what I'd do with it, but I'd still have to get it.

OMG , I so understand, they are very wonderful hamsters indeed. So glad I also do not collect erasers. Just have to convince Bill we need more cats! Love, Claudia
Aren't they so cute? There are some crazy cute erasers out there - lots of neat food ones too, which for some reason I adore. But I will remain strong and not start a new addiction!
