Cruise News
Did you know that my parents and Dan and I were on a Baja cruise last week? It was CCR's annual trip (dubbed my severance cruise) and a lot of fun. We got back on Friday night and spent the weekend catching up on sleep. I've got to update my travels page to have this cruise on it (it went to Mexico so it counts as international travel!) but I think I won't get to that until next week. Until then, here's a brief recap:
Monday 12/5 - Embark in Los Angeles, California
We actually spent the night at LAX on Sunday (easier to get there since we flew Delta and thus had to go through Salt Lake City). We could see the Hollywood sign from our hotel window. That was our LA experience.
Zoo Day! Dan and I took an excursion to the San Diego Zoo, supposed to be the second best zoo in the world (second the Zurich, Chicago is number three). It was so fun. We didn't get to see nearly all the animals at the zoo, but that just means we need to go back!
Dan and I were scheduled to take a snorkeling tour but since I had started to get sick on Tuesday, we cancelled it and instead spent the day walking around Avalon, the one city on the island. We met up with my parents and had some fish and chips then went on a glass bottom boat tour. It wasn't snorkeling but it was very cool - and we all stayed dry!
The four of us went on a winery tour. It was very neat. And not only because the two winery tours ended in a wine tasting! This was Dan's first time in Mexico. I think he liked it. He actually haggled a street vendor down from $10 to $4 dollars - and then didn't buy anything! Mom and I decided that we had to watch him or else he would make the vendors cry.
Back home to Texas! We left the boat about 8:30am Pacific time and finally got home at 9:00pm Central. Whew, long day! And a great trip!

The closest I ever need to get to Hollywood

Don't you just want to hug this little guy?
This giraffe was only 3 months old - and a tiny 6 feet tall!

On the glass bottom boat - it was too cool!

Cool!! That koala looks so cuddly. I went to Catalina island when I was in junior high. Then when I took Spanish class, I chose Catalina as my Spanish name. And we took a glass bottom boat, too, to get to the island. It's like we're living parallel lives. OoooOOoooh...j/k!
Sounds like it was a lot fun!
