OMG, this is ridiculous! The Harry Potter books are no more "occult" than I am even though I own a black cat. If I say more, I'm going to end up with a huge long book of a vent so I'll just post the link.

Anything in life can be viewed as good or evil dependant on the viewer. Dan coined one of my favorites on his website...in the eye of the beholder.
While the Pope views HP as occult or evil, there are thousands who view him that way. So in the context of his statements, it would be fair to apply his thinking to him and say that he erodes the soul. (Wink, Wink!)
